Obsidian Mirror

Summary

edit
Description
中文(繁體):阿茲提克帝國黑曜石鏡(16~17世紀),臺北市士林區陽明山次分區臨溪里(雙溪庄外雙溪)
English: The mirror was crafted from locally abundant obsidian by artisans of the Aztec Empire of Mesoamerica between the 15th and 16th centuries. It served as a divination medium with prophetic power for the Aztec rulers. It is unclear when and how the mirror reached China, but it is only plausible that this sacred Mesoamerican object appeared in Asia in the context of early Europe contact with the Americas.
