Summary
editDescription-2018-12-18 Airey houses on Park Avenue, North Walsham, Norfolk.jpg |
English: A row of semi detached Airey house located on Park Lane in the town of North Walsham, Norfolk, England. Designed by the civil engineer Sir Edwin Airey for the "Ministry of works emergency factory made housing programme". The frames of these houses were made from prefabricated concrete columns reinforced with tubing recycled from the canvas tilt frames of military trucks. A series of shiplap style concrete panels, tied back to the columns, form the external envelope. Many of these type of houses are now in need of much remedial works to restore there integrity. |
