Description
English: CWGC gravestone for Sub-Lieutenant Stephen Anthony Golder Godden, DSC, RN, in the churchyard of All Saints' parish church in the village of Mundesley, Norfolk, United Kingdom. Sub-Lieut Godden was killed when the submarine HMS Umpire (N82) sank 12 miles of Blakeney as a result of a collision with the armed convoy escort trawler Peter Hendriks. along with Godden, 22 of the submarine's crew were killed. Umpire had been commissioned only nine days earlier and had been on her way to join the 3rd Submarine Flotilla at Dunoon.
