Description
English: Ledger stone in Saint Mary’s Church, East Ruston, Norfolk, England, of Anne Bird (1653-1680), wife of Dunham Bird, spice dealer (aromatarius), and a daughter of William Gelsthorp. Also to her daughter Anne who died in 1680. Possibly she died two weeks after giving birth to a still-born daughter. Inscribed in Latin: Here sleeps Anna, wife of Dunham Bird, spice dealer, only daughter and heiress of William Gelsthorp, Gentleman. She died on the 2nd day of April in the year of her age the 27th, (in the year) of Christ 1680. And not least Anne, the daughter of Dunham Bird aforesaid and of his wife Anne, who died on the 16th day of March in year of our Lord 1680. The coat of arms Two bars is not listed in Burke's General Armory for either family.
