Summary
editDescription004182023 Pancha Pandava temple, Nirmand Himachal Pradesh 101.jpg |
English: The Pancha Pandava temple, also known as Shiva temple and Jaharpeer Devata mandir, is an 8th-century temples complex dedicated to Shiva. It has several miniature Nagara-style stone temples with pyramidal phamsana and curvilinear Nagara shikharas. These miniature temples include the features of early Hindu temples. In front of one is a miniature Nandi mandapa. Bands of miniature Hindu artwork carvings are incorporated into these stone temples.
The Pancha Pandava temple of Nirmand is among many small temples scattered in Nirmand village hillside overlooking the Sutlej river and Himalayan scenery. This Pandava temple site is best compared to the following small yet interesting historic sites in Nirmand with miniature stone temples – Dakhni Mahadeva temple, Dhankia Mahaedva temple in a cave near the village, Chamunda Devi temple, Chandi (Kali) temple and other pre-14th century mandirs incorporated in the rural homes. |
