Małopolski Instytut Kultury w Krakowie Similar breastpins bearing the names of other workshops are also known to exist as well as ones with only ornamented plates without inscriptions, as in Szarbia. Such decorative fibulae were produced on the territory of the Roman Empire. Outside its borders, in the Barbaricum area, they were undoubtedly prestigious ornaments, emphasising the high social and material status of their owner. In Szarbia, it was found in a backfill of a grave destroyed by later excavation, most probably a robbery.
