Description

After escaping from the sun's gravitational field, the solar wind flows outward radically, but because of the Sun’s rotation, a spiral pattern emerges in the wind causing the interception angle with Earth’s orbit of about 45 degrees.

The image was created for a <a href="http://www.scitechlab.com/" rel="nofollow">www.scitechlab.com/</a> blog post on the <a href="http://scitechlab.wordpress.com/2008/09/01/the-auroras-or-northern-polar-lights/" rel="nofollow">Northern Lights</a>.
