Description
English: Canopy over a bench on the Tottenville-bound platform of the Huguenot Staten Island Railway station in the Huguenot section of Staten Island, New York City. Taken from the Saint George-bound platform on November 14, 2017. The station was originally built in 1860, but was rebuilt as part of a Public Works Administration-sponsored grade elimination project between 1938 and 1939, although the canopy itself is a much more modern rebuild. Note also the standard MTA Helvetica Staten Island Railway station sign mounted above the metal frame for the glass block wall, and the passengers on the benches under the canopy, some of which appear to be staring at the photographer.
