Description

Very close to Warszawa's main station, Centralna, lies Śródmieście WKD station with its single platform, two tracks and scissor cross-over to allow trains to held or stabled. This is the start of the 35km long standard gauge system which runs roughly parallel to the mainline from Warszawa towards Kraków etc.

Off peak there are four trains an hour, one each to the branch ends at Milanówek Grudów and Grodzisk Mazowiecki with alternate ones going through to Podkowa Leśna. The two branch end stations are 10-15 minutes walk from PKP stations on the mainline this possible to do most of the line one way only.

Stock used is tram style sets - 14 x EN97s and a further 6 x EN-100s which replaced the EN94 sets dating back to the late 1960s.

Seen on 8 May 2018, to the left is set EN97-001 in between workings with EN97-014 which is forming train WKD217, 09:50 Warszawa Śródmieście WKDto Milanówek Grudów.
