Magirus de son côté est, à l'origine, un important producteur de matériel anti-incendie. Il est repris par Deutz, motoriste de Cologne spécialiste du diesel refroidi par air, en 1936, avant d'être plus tard absorbé par Iveco. La branche protection civile existe toujours aujourd'hui, notamment à travers la filiale française Camiva, implantée à Chambéry (73).
