  • Significance: A building at 116 Washington Avenue was constructed during the 19th century. It is assumed that its present appearance is the result of a major renovation ca. 1908 from designs by 2 of Albany's most prominent early 20th century architects, Walter Vauguysling and Charles Ogden. The structure was designed for Dr. Joseph Dowling to serve as his residence as well as his office. 116 Washington Avenue is one of the most significant examples of the Arts and Crafts Movement in Albany...
