Drawing of tRNA 3-step progression in a ribosome 3-step elongation cycle that adds one amino-acid to the growing protein chain.

Summary edit

Description
English: Drawing of tRNA 3-step progression in a ribosome 3-step elongation cycle that adds one amino-acid to the growing protein chain. First (left panel) the EF-Tu helps the correct tRNA enter the "A" site, with its anticodon binding the current codon on the messenger RNA. The central panel shows the center tRNA (T site) adding the amino acid from the new A-site tRNA to the growing protein chain, which will then be attached to the new tRNA. The right panel shows all 3 tRNAs moving over by one site, and the EF-G cofactor removing a tRNA from the E (exit) site. Drawing by David S. Goodsell.
