Description Atomic Bomb-Nagasaki, 1945. Utter Desolation – In this valley were hundreds and hundreds of homes, set close together, until the atomic bomb exploded on Nagasaki. Note the structures half a mile distant, scorched, partly ruined. Bones of seared human beings were found in this area. Even the trees were scorched. Photographed by Goldberg at Nagasaki, Japan, September 16, 1945. Official U.S. Marine Corps Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/10/25).
