Description
Deutsch: Der CRISPR Gen-Locus verleiht Bakterien adaptive Immunität gegen wiederholte Phageninfektionen.

Links: Aus der Phagen DNA wird eine Sequenz als Protospacer geschnitten (1). Mittels Cas1-Cas2 Komplex gelangt die Sequenz zum CRISPR- Genlocus und wird als Spacer eingebaut (2).

Rechts: Bei einer erneuten Phagen-Infektion werden die Spacer transkribiert und Cas9 als Protein synthetisiert (1). Spacer werden in Cas9 gebunden (2). Cas9 vergleicht die intrazelluläre DNA mit der Spacer-Sequenz (3). Wenn diese übereinstimmen, handelt es sich um eine Phagen-Sequenz, und die DNA wird zerschnitten (4).
