Description
English: Oak chest in St Michael's parish church, Garway, Herefordshire. It eight feet long and is dug-out from a single oak log. It was made from mature timber in the 12th century, which therefore may have started growing in the 9th or 10th century.
The chest stored alms collected from sinners seeking remission. It is now kept in the locked tower. Thanks to the local guide who allowed me in to see it.
