English: San Antonio, Texas native, Capt. David Taliaferro (left), commander of the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based 133rd Quartermaster Company, attached to the Fort Bragg, N.C.-based 82nd Sustainment Brigade-U.S. Central Command Materiel Recovery Element, and his company first sergeant, 1st Sgt. John Kriz, who hails from Carmel, N.Y., uncase their company colors, assuming responsibility for operations of the Kandahar retrosort yard, during an April 24 transfer of authority ceremony with the Vallejo, Calif.-based 349th Quartermaster Company at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. As bases transition over the course of their deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, 133rd QM Co. troops will perform materiel reduction, ensuring reusable items are returned to the U.S. military inventory or given to Afghans through such programs as Foreign Excess Personal Property.
