Description
English: The former right-of-way for the West Hempstead Branch extension to Mineola, as seen from the fenced-off low platform of the Country Life Press Long Island Rail Road station on the Hempstead Branch in Garden City, New York. The West Hempstead-Mineola Branch (which some have called the "Garden City Branch"), as well as the junction with the Hempstead Branch was taken out of service in 1935 due to the LIRR's inability to afford a grade elimination project, and the tracks were completely removed between West Hempstead and Country Life Press stations in 1960.
