The weapon, cleared of ammunition for this photo, has been in use by the U.S. Army since 1933, with only slight variations. The 3655th Soldiers zeroed in on iron sights before qualifying for proficiency as part of their two-week annual training at Fort McCoy, Wis. (Iowa Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Chad D.
