More SNCF diesels off to the seaside! Continuing on a theme I hope to feature on my photos of France are trains such as these. I made a trip to France for several summers in a row during the early 1990s, part of which was to take in branches to seaside resorts. Services on some branches were infrequent to say the least and this line had very few trains even on summer Saturdays as seen here. Taken on 15 August 1992, BB66452 worked train E3971, 08:29 Paris-St-Lazare to Dives-Cabourg seen at the end of the journey. The single BB66452 worked the train from Trouville-Deauville having reversed and leaving behind some of the stock plus the pair of BB67400s worked in from Paris. Note the Turbotrain set to the right. Rather than utilise the loco and stock on a departure later on in the afternoon back to Paris, the Turbotrain was diagrammed for this. The Turbotrain having come in either empty from Trouville-Deauville or stabled overnight. The loco hauled set again would have worked back empty to Treauville-Deauville or again stabled overnight. As a result of a long gap for the train back, I took a leisurely lunch in a nearby restaurant and later on a bus to Caen to continue my rail travels for the day. |
