Op meer dan dertig plaatsen langs de kust zijn reddingsstations gevestigd. Eén van de jongste aanwinsten is de met alle moderne navigatiemiddelen uitgeruste en zeer snelle reddingsboot 'Komer'. SHOTS: zw/w: kolkende zee; cu's gravure over scheepsbreuk; kleur: zelfrichtende boot, die na kapseizen weer overeind komt; boot met springnet; ext. en int. 'Komer'; 'Komer' verlaat met hoge snelheid de haven. ARCHIEFMATERIAAL (zw/w): reddingsroeiboot in de branding; grafsteen omgekomen redder; reddingsstoomboot 'Dorus Rijkers' bij scheepswrak.
English: 150 years of rescue by the KNZHRM; Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.; The Royal North- and South-Holland Rescue Company (KNZHRM) exists 150 years. At more than thirty places along the coast are lifeboat stations. One of the latest additions is the very fast lifeboat 'Komer', equipped with all the modern navigation devices. SHOTS: b/w: swirling sea; close ups engraving on shipwrecks; color: self-righting boat, which after capsizing comes back up; boat with jumping net; ext. and int. 'Komer'; 'Komer' leaves the harbout with high speed. ARCHIVE FOOTAGE (b/w): rowing lifeboat in the surf; tombstone of a perished rescuer; rescue steamboat 'Dorus Rijkers' near wreck.
