Summary edit

Description Members of the 210th, 211th and 212th Rescue Squadrons from the Alaska Air National Guard took part in a simulated casualty evacuation training exercise off the coast of Homer, Alaska, April 27. The scenario involved an injured member of a fishing vessel that required immediate treatment and extraction from the boat. Pararescuemen with the 212th RQS loaded into an HC-130 King aircraft flown by the 211th RQS, and launched out of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to conduct the training. Upon finding the vessel on the waters near Homer, the pararescuemen parachuted into the water, and linked up with the fishing vessel using a small watercraft they also dropped in with a parachute. When they reached the boat, they located the casualty, and then assessed and treated his injuries. Afterwards, an HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter flown by the 210th RQS hovered over the boat, hoisted the patient and pararescuemen onboard, and then transported them back to Homer.
