Description
English: Description/Blazon

Shield Argent, a bend archy in the colors of the rainbow (Gules, Or and Azure) between in chief a prickly pear cactus and in base a palm tree on a mound Proper. Crest The crest is that for the regiments and separate battalions of the Iowa Army National Guard: On a wreath Argent and Azure a hawk's head erased Proper. Motto ON GUARD.

Symbolism Shield The shield is white, the old Infantry color. The bend archy in the form of a rainbow shows the service of the Regiment in World War I in the 42d Division. The cactus represents the Mexican Border service and the palm tree the Philippine service. Crest The crest is that of the Iowa Army National Guard.

The coat of arms was approved on 28 July 1931.
