Summary

edit
Description
English: Engraving by François van Bleyswik for Th. More's Utopia translated in french by N. Gueudeville in 1715 (ETH-Bibliothek Zürich). This engraving (page 11) represents, supposedly, the discussions at Cardinal John Morton's table that Raphael Hythlodaeus relates in Book I of Utopia. The figure standing up may be the "fool" discussing with the "Brother" seated on the far right. On the right of the "Brother", recognizable by his chapeau, is sitting the Cardinal J. Morton. On the right of the Cardinal, recognizable by his cape, this figure may be R. Hythlodaeus. The remaining two figures may represent, one the "layman" specialized in law, the other an unidentified guest mentionned by R. Hythlodaeus.
