| Description |
English: Pont Neuf photographed between 1836 and 1839 by Louis Daguerre and Mathurin Joseph Fordos. According to the caption on the back, written in 1879, this is the first daguerreotype made in the open air. The original is at the Musée des Arts et Métiers. This version was mirrored to the correct orientation and cropped to show one (or two?) workers lying the shade of the statue. If it was taken in 1836, it would be the earliest photograph of a human being and the earliest preserved daguerreotype, predating Boulevard du Temple (1837/38) and Still life with plaster casts (1837). |
