Description
Deutsch: Diese – leider nur sehr gering aufgelöste – Reproduktion einer Lithografie aus dem Jahr 1842 erinnerte an die Abschaffung der unter Kaiser Karl V. 1532 erlassenen und bis zum Jahr 1840 geltenden Peinlichen Halsgerichtsordnung, der sogenannten Carolina, die zur Zeit des Königreichs Hannover 1840 durch das neue Strafgesetzbuch ersetzt wurde. Nachdem der Maler Karl Hoff, mutmaßlich im Auftrag des Grafen von Schwicheldt-Flachstöckheim, eine große Kohlezeichnung angefertigt hatte (die sich heute im Bomann-Museum in Celle findet), erschien diese verkleinerte und seitenverkehrte Lithografie aus der Druckerei von Julius Giere im Verlag der Celler Buchhandlung von Friedrich Capaun-Karlowa. Das originale Blatt ist wie folgt untertitelt:

„Die Totenfeier der Carolina, Zur Erinnerung an Celle und die Zeitgenossen des Königl. Hannover. Patents vom 8.ten Aug. 1840. Carl Hoff lith./Verl. von Fr. Capaun in Celle/Gedr. i. d. Giereschen Hof-Steindruckerei Hannover“
