Summary edit

Description

A bronze medallion presented to those individuals who endured the Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War 1870-71.

According to the book, "The French Medal and the History of the War of 1870-1871", by Jean-Pierre Collignon, "A speculator has struck a commemorative medal of the siege of Paris, to which he gave the name of PRESENCE TOKEN. Newspaper ads announce that the idea and the medals are the most successful. Each of those who are entitled to it wants or wants to have, among his dearest trinkets, "his token of presence" in bronze or silver, and which must naturally bear the name of its owner ".
