   De antiguas razas y de antiguos ritos
el valor y la historia has heredado;
como blanca paloma te has posado
entre el cielo y el mar: dos infinitos.
   Los frutos más sabrosos y exquisitos
tu sierra y tu campiña han coronado;
tus montes guardan el metal preciado
y escuchan del vapor los roncos gritos.
   Nunca han sido tus hijos los segundos:
auxilian á Colón en sus desvelos,
surcan los mares y descubren mundos.
   Tus hijas causan á la aurora celos,
y en sus ojos, de amor soles fecundos,
cautivan almas y descubren cielos.
