| Description |
English: At first, the graves of British officers killed during the Waterloo Campaign of 1815 were scattered around the battlefields of Waterloo and Quatre Bras. The pending project of collecting their remains took form in 1882 when the City Council of Brussels presented a plot to United Kingdom. Things sped up thank to a public subscription launched by Queen Victoria : the monument was soon designed, cast and erected, and inaugurated on 26 August 1890 by Prince George, Duke of Cambridge (1819-1904). Designer of the statuary group : Count Jacques de Lalaing (1858-1917). |
