English: Lieutenant Colonel Sir Alexander Gordon (1786 – died 19 June 1815 from his wounds) was first interred in the cemetery of Saint-Gilles, Brussels. His remains were transferred in the crypt of the Memorial on 25 July 1890, and the tombstone of his grave laid at the entrance of the crypt.
Beneath this stone // are deposited the remains // of // LT Colonel Sir Alexander Gordon // Knight Commander // of the // Most Honorable Order of the Bath // Aide de Camp to the Duke of Wellington // And third Brother to George Earl of Aberdeen // Who was killed // In the Battle of Waterloo // Aged 29 years The last line concludes : Restored by Admiral the Honble John Gordon his last surviving Brother // in 1865Lieutenant Colonel Sir Alexander Gordon now rests in the crypt of the Memorial : ►(File:18 June 1815 – Victory at Waterloo – British Waterloo Campaign Memorial, crypt, tomb right, 7.jpg). |
