Summary edit
Description18 June 1815 – Victory at Waterloo – Lord Wellington's Bust, St Joseph's Church.jpg |
English: Bust of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852). Signed and dated "G. G. Adams. Sc. // London. 1855" on the back. (Marble, ca. 60 cm) George Gammon Adams (1821 – 1898), first a renowned medallist, became famous as portraitist-sculptor. Having been chosen to take Lord Wellington's death mask, he created a first bust in 1852 for the 2nd Duke of Wellington (1808-1884). So appreciated was it that G. G. Adams made several versions of it in the following years.
