English: Mr. John Fenton and his wife, Evelyn (Edgington) Fenton both came from Liverpool, England, and resided at 1901 Tremont Road. Mrs. Fenton's mother, Mary Edgington, as well as the Fenton's three children, Olive, Evelyn, and Frank also resided with the family. Mr. Fenton was in the shoe business, excelled in tennis (serving on the Board of Directors of the Upper Arlington Tennis Club), and was an elected member of the Charter Commission of the Village of Upper Arlington (the village charter became effective on March 29, 1919). Mr. Fenton also played the violin, and Mrs. Fenton was an artist. The Fenton home was located at the corner of Tremont Road and Devon Road, facing east, and was of brick and stucco in the English style. |
