Description
English: The seven-story Commonwealth building, built in 1893. . A major fire caused extensive damage to the Commonwealth Building on November 24, 1975. The top three floors were removed and the building was gutted, followed by a complete reconstruction into a modern-style office building. Next door to the Commonwealth Building is the Ainey Mansion at the Southeast corner of Fifth Street. It was torn down in 1966.
