Description

A postcard sent to Ted Claxton. Showing the Temple Church, London. This is the site of the church originally built by the Knights Templar in 1185, between Fleet Street and the River Thames.

This picture shows the now-lost Victorian restorations of Smirke and Burton (1841) and James Piers St Aubyn (1862), who were attempting to restore it to the supposed design of before the Great Fire of London of 1666.
