Description

Stutz Model 4C Bearcat. source

The first Stutz was built in 1911, for the next 5 years it competed in the Indianapolis 500. It finished 4th in 1912, 3rd in 1913 and 5th in 1915. The open bucket seat Bearcat roadster, built from 1912-1926, was derived from these race cars, they looked very similar and had the same chassis, engine and running gear as the race cars.

From 1917 enclosed body work was introduced, production ceased in 1935 during the depression. This car was found in Dandenong, Victoria, Australia in 1952, eventually restored in 1996
