Description
English: This 1920 photo shows The Globe Store, located on the northwest corner of Center Square in Allentown. The store sold general dry goods. The purpose of the small booth on the street is unknown, however it may have been used to control traffic signals. The Globe Store closed in 1936 and was vacant until 1940 when it was torn down for a Whelan's drug store. Whelans closed in the 1990s and the structure was torn down in 2013 as part of the PPL Center construction.
