editDescription1922 Miners strike Victims.jpg |
English: Brakpan miners strike: On 9 March 1922 3 policemen and 4 mine officials were killed on the Brakpan Mines. This was during the worst strike this country has ever known. The miners were unhappy about the work force cut backs due to the falling gold price and as one they came out on strike. It was so bad that Jan Smuts declared martial law. This memorial serves to remember the officials who died at the Brakpan mines.
