Description
English: In 1926, Pennsylvania Power & Light Corporation began tearing down structures on the northwest corner of Ninth and Hamilton Streets for the construction of the Allentown tower building.

The building shown being imploded in the photograph was the 901 Hamilton Street building, which housed the Leh & Merkel Pharmacy, Pergola Pool Room, the offices of lawyer James K. Bowen, J. K. Bowen Printery and the Plus Oil Company.

The Pergola movie theater and the Cameron Piano Company building were already torn down.
