English: Ninth and Hamilton Street looking to the west in late 1925. The Martin Mansion on the left stood until 1960 until it was torn down. It was later a flower shop, which was replaced in 1975 by the Allentown Hilton Hotel. It was later the Clarion Hotel and today it is the Holiday Inn. On the Northwest side, the Pergola movie theater was closed in 1926, and the first four the buildings from the corner of Ninth Street west were torn down to make way for the PP&L Corporate Office Building.

A new Pergola Theater was opened on Ninth Street in the early 1930s. It was later renamed the Boyd Theater. In 1971 the Boyd as well as all the buildings on the west side of Ninth Street from Hamilton north to Linden were purchased by the PP&L and were torn down. They were replaced by an extension of the main corporate offices of the PP&L, which opened in 1973.
