English: Aerial photograph of the new Union Boulevard, under construction in 1929, taken from about 4,000' altitude..

Union Boulevard had been a dirt path for decades prior to the construction of the Tilghman Street bridge over the Lehigh River. Along with the bridge construction, Union Boulevard was paved and improved to provide a road to connect Allentown to Bethlehem though the Fifteenth Ward, which had been acquired some years earlier but was largely undeveloped.

Today Union Boulevard is a vital artery of business and commerce though the East Side of Allentown. The intersection in the photo shows Union Boulevard and Irving Street.
