Description

The 1937 Chev saw a major redesign, wider and roomier, a stronger frame and a new engine. 2 models were available; base Master (I Beam front axle), and the upmarket Master Deluxe (independent front suspension and upgraded interior) Chevrolets were also built in Australia from 1926-68. In 1937, models available in Australia were Sedans, Coupes, Roadsters and Coupe Utilitys in both the Master and Master Deluxe. Ford Australia was the first company to produce a coupe utility as a result of a 1932 letter from the wife of a farmer in Victoria, Australia asking for “a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays”. These Chevrolet Coupe Utilitys used Canadian mechanicals and front panels, the rest made in Australia.
