Afrikaans: Hierdie gedenkstapel in Smithfield, Suid-Afrika is opgerig tydens die Simboliese Ossewatrek en onthul op 15 Oktober 1938.
Hierdie gedenkstapel is opgerig tydens die Simboliese Ossewatrek en onthul op 15 Oktober 1938. Elke gesin van dorp en distrik het 'n klip daarvoor gebring. Die Meulsteen bo-op kom van Beersheba in die distrik war dit reeds in 1835 deur die Franse Sendelinge gebruik is. Die vier klippe op die hoeke is uit die ou Voortrekkerpad oor Kareenek naby die dorp gehaal. Die merke van die wawiele is nog daarop sigbaar. Die wiel is geskenk deur Mnr. H.J. Swart, 'n gewese Burgemeester van die dorp. 
English: A monument in Smithfield, South Africa, commemorating the 1938 Symbolic Great Trek. Erected on 15 October 1938.
The stones for the erection of this monument during the Symbolic Great Trek in 1938 were brought by the inhabitants of the town and district. The Old Mill-stone on top was used at the French Mission Station at Beersheba in the district in 1835. The four corner stones were taken from the old Voortrekker road over Kareenek near the town. The wheel was donated by Mr. H.J. Swart, a former Mayor of Smithfield.
