Summary

edit
Description

The published version of the approved directive C.C.S. 166/1, "Bomber Offensive from the United Kingdom". C.C.S. 166 was the "Draft Directive", and the version presented to, and approved by, the Combined Chiefs did not have the "Approved by..." statement, which was added to the published version C.C.S. 166/1/D for distribution.

  • On March 5, 1944, the HQ. U.S.S.T.A.F. referred to C.C.S. 166/1/D as the "Casablanca directive" in the Reexamination of Previously Recommended Target Systems supplement of the Plan for Completion of Combined Bomber Offensive.
