Morgan 4-4 was the Morgan Motor Company's first car with 4 wheels, Earlier Morgans had been 3 wheelers, only, typically with V-twin engines, so the term 4-4 meant 4 wheels with 4 cylinders. The 1st of these cars, from 1936 were only available as 2 seaters with a 1122cc Coventry Climax 4 cyl engine. 4 seaters introduced in 1937 and a drophead coupe in 1938. Engine size increased in 1939 to a 1267cc OHV The Series II with a new sloped back and rounded nose, was introduced in 1955, refered to as the 4/4 |
