| Description |
The 1952-54 Fords got refreshed styling, now with a one piece windshield and a new OHV 6 cylinder engine. The 1952 Ford's grille got a single central bullet surrounded by a chrome ring, the horizontal bars, had a slot in them. A revised grille for 1953, the central bullet lost its ring, bars either side were now solid. For 1954, back to a similar grille of 1952 with ring around central bullet, but with chrome teeth below the solid bar. The old flathead V8 was replaced by the OHV Y block V8 in 1954. The base model was now the Mainline, mid, Customline and top was the Crestline Sedan, which also included the Sunliner Convertible, Victoria Hardtop and Country Squire Wagon. The Skyliner two-door hardtop, it had an acrylic glass panel over the front half of the roof ,was introduced in 1954. Two 1952-54 Fords were also produced in Australia; the V8 Customline Sedan, and unique to Australia, the V8 Mainline Coupe Utility. New for 1954 US engines; 223 cu in OHV 6 cyl OHV or 130hp 256 cu in OHV Y block V8. In Australia the 239 cu in Flathead V8 was retained in 1954. |
