Description

C4B-05 POST_WAR CLASSIC (AMERICAN & AUSTRALIAN)

The Fury was produced by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1956 to 1989 and introduced as a sporty, premium-priced, showcase model with the intent to draw consumers into showrooms.

With the name derive from ancient Greek and Roman mythologies, the early model reached fame and notoriety as the possessed car in Stephen King's novel, Christine, and the film of the same name.

This example was built in the Los Angeles plant on January 15th 1959, being the 1006th Sport Fury to roll off the production line. Original dealer purchase price was US $3297.90 which included options such as power brakes, remote driver side mirror with matching passenger side mirror, electronically-controlled Mirror-matic interior mirror that sensors headlights approaching from behind, and automatically deflects glare from the drivers eyes (very rare), tinted Solex safety glass, heater /hot water defroster, two tone paint, whitewall tires and reserve lights.

Special orders were common for the Fury, with many owners choosing from a range of features and options and having their own bespoke car built. A name plaque was then stamped with the owner's name and affixed to the glove box door, this example made to special order for a Reata Baird.
