The 1958-62 Wolseley 1500 and similar Austin Lancer and Morris Major, were built by BMC of Australia. The 1958-59 Series I was a more basic version of the English Wolselely 1500 and Riley 1.5. All 4 cars had the 1489cc B engine. The 1959-62 Series II varied more from the English cars with tailfins and new front sheet metal, they were 9 inches longer, running gear strengthened for Australian conditions. In 1962, the Morris got a facelift, now called the Major Elite, it was built until 1964. (the Austin and Wolseley discontinued) |
