Description
English: Originally a ship building company, Mitsubishi's first car, the Model A was produced from 1917-22, it proved too expensive compared with it's rivals.

It wasn't until 1960, the second car was produced, the 2 door Mitsubishi 500. It was powered by a rear mounted, air-cooled 493cc two-cylinder engine with a single downdraught carburettor producing 21hp driving the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. The body was a monocoque, in order to be light and strong enough to reach the goal of seating four and reaching 100 km/h with such a small engine. An update in 1961 was the Mitsubishi 500 Super DeLuxe with enlarged 25hp 594cc engine Replaced by the Mitsubishi Colt 600 in 1962, which used the same 594cc engine.
