The 1st Valiant in Australia was actually the Q Series, an American built car converted to right hand drive to test the market in Australia. but the 1st Valiant to be assembled in Australia was this, the R series, it was only built from Jan 1962 to March 1962, it featured a simulated spare wheel outline in the boot and was available with either 3 speed manual floor shift or push button automatic.
