| Description |
The HK Holden was built from Jan 1968-May 1969. The all new HK was larger and heavier than the HR and came with a larger array of options and mechanical features. A V8 was available for the first time in a Holden. The Standard and Special names were replaced by the Belmont and Kingswood. Like the Standard, the Belmont got rubber floor mats, the Kingswood, carpet and some stainless steel trim. The Premier was still available, not only bucket seats and a console, the Premier got a 4 headlight front and the egg crate grille and roofline was different to the Belmont and Kingswood. The top spec Brougham was added to the range, similar to the Premier but 200 mm longer in the body. Also available now was the 2 door coupe; the Monaro, available in base, sporty GTS and race ready GTS327. The GTS got full instrumentation, the tacho was on the centre console, vents in the guards and racing stripes. Engines; The Red 6 cyl; 114hp 161, 126hp 186 and 145hp 186S.
