Description

Sublime. The Challenger was a muscle car built by Dodge on the small pony car platform, competition for the Mustang and Camaro. It was one of two Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth Barracuda. This is the 1st of the 1st generation cars, they were built from 1970-74. The 1970 Challenger was available in hardtop and convertible forms, and it came in four versions: base, R/T (Road/Track), SE (Special Edition), which was also available in conjunction with the R/T, and T/A (Trans Am). Standard engines were the 145hp 225 6 cyl or 230hp 318 and 275hp 340 V8s. The R/T Challenger came with the 335hp 383 Magnum engine, optional was the 375 hp 440 Magnum, 390 hp 440 6 pack or 425 hp 426 Hemi. It also came with the rallye instrument cluster, and heavy duty brakes and suspension, it also had the power bulge hood, hood pins and 2 air intakes, the shaker hood was optional Engines; 383 V8 optional 375 hp 440 Magnum, 390 hp 440 6 pack or 425 hp 426 Hemi The Challenger T/A (Trans Am) was a limited edition car produced to qualify the Challenger for Trans Am races. It included a special 290hp 340 Six-Pack engine, a special flat-black fiberglass hood with huge hood scoop, front and rear spoilers, special side stripes, side-exiting exhaust pipes, upgraded suspension, and larger tires. The Challenger T/A was only made in 1970
